The European Union is currently debating an historic piece of legislation that could expand resettlement programmes for vulnerable refugees. If the proposal becomes law, it would mean that some of the most vulnerable people will not be forced to take treacherous journeys in search of safety. And there’s a chance it could pass!"
The legislation, aka the ‘Union Resettlement Framework’, gives our leaders an opportunity to come together and agree on a coordinated, humanitarian response to the refugee crisis. With a focus on resettling those most vulnerable, it will allow us to help more people rebuild their future by welcoming them through a safe and legal route.
It’s simple: the more of us who ask our representatives at the European Union to make this legislation work for refugees, the more likely it is to happen.
