So while your uncle yells ‘stop the boats’, and the media has an endless argy-bargy about channel crossings, the UK Government literally requires asylum seekers to travel to the UK. Huh? What? True! There are plenty of safe routes into the UK for reindeers, including by plane, boat or pulling a sleigh. Refugees, however, have almost no safe or legal routes. But they have to be on UK soil to claim asylum. But there’s no legal way to get here. But, but, but… Yeah. It doesn’t make a lick of sense.
